Water-Lily Dreams Poem by SAIPRAKASH KUNTAMUKKALA

Water-Lily Dreams

WATER - LILY DREAMS
In the middle of a placid lake
I wait patiently for your arrival
As all other in deep slumber
My wait unbearable as the time moves like a tortoise
It is not even a hide and seek that we used to play
The dark clouds veiling you from my sight
Even your celestial friends not announcing your arrival
The lone King of the dark skies above
I often wonder at your un announced arrival
Teasing me from far above
Until your appear in grandeur
I keep my petals under wraps
Only to open at your first gentle kiss
Lo! The moment has arrived
Dressed in royalty
Your regal but enticing touch
I open my wings far and wide
To be kissed with passion
I rise above the silvery waters
Extending my mane to reach your soothing embrace
Caressing my cheeks
Whispering into my ears the nicest of things
Holding me gently yet assuring your love
All that follows is a swan song of elegance
A duet we only could sing
The midnight dew settled on my petals
I wish not whisk away
They are like the sweat drops that appear on a bride's forehead after her union
Each a pearl sharing a story of her own
I wish the dawn to never arrive
Let our songs of love continue into eternity
As we both are aware this union is long pending and may not happen every night
As the first rays of sunshine appearing on the horizon
We need to bid adieu
Though not willingly
You vanishing behind the clouds
Me drawing back my petals closer to my heart
Reminiscing your naughty smile and deeds
Until you greet me one more fateful night
