Waves! ! ! ! ! ! ! - Poem by S.MICHAEL DOWNS

Waves! ! ! ! !
by S. Michael Downs

Heavy comes the wave,
salty surging rush.
Thunderous the sound,
crashing all come down.

Monsterous the smile,
Intended to defeat me.
Wonderous the feeling,
Knowing you can't beat me.

Crushing came the news,
You had found another.
Hollow is the heart,
so open and uncovered.

Fortunate the healing,
Of broken dreams and wishes.
Fleeting are the moments,
To savor former kisses.

Take me back I beg you,
To days of youth and power.
Youthful surging rush,
Despite the painful CRUSH!

If asked to bear the pain again,
I would not hesitate.
For memory burns in darkess deep,
and lights the promises we fail to keep.

The price was paid,
and worth the paying.
It's not been lost,
just not worth saying.

So stand and wait,
Waves come for you.
It's this reserve of life,
That's sees you through.
