We Have Arrived Poem by Linda Kaastra

We Have Arrived

You seek new information to help you through the day
You sit up, you look up, you stretch up
Breathe in once, reach down once, then walk away

There's nothing. No past to stand on
No future either, it seems
We have arrived at Ground Zero

Where each encounter is an adventure
A chance to connect, one to one
And find out who we are

What do I look for when I say hello?
Who do you see in this response?
How do we balance this moment?

I wish I had better news for you, and I don't know how you will react
Or what we represent
When the heavens go dark, we have only the light we make together
