What Dream May Start Poem by Elliott Gilbert

What Dream May Start

I have no idea what to think.
I have no idea what to say.
I am not here to sit by,
I am not here to just play.

I look forward to what the future holds.
I look forward to what may come.
You and everything you bring,
have become the only one.

I wish we could just sit down and talk.
I wish I could help you with the road ahead.
Some prefer taking the smooth road.
I prefer the bumpy one instead.

When will it be the right time?
When should I put myself on the line?
When should I finally let my guard down?
That will finally let the light shine.

I am tired of being confused.
I am trying hard to be understanding.
You have so much going in your life,
I am not the one who should be demanding.

I am trying to give you support.
I am trying to be your man not your boy.
I am trying to be something we can create.
Structured into something no one can destroy.

I am not one to pop in and out.
I am not one to back out when rough things start.
I am not one to leave you saddened.
I will never be the one to break your heart.

Do not be afraid and guarded.
Do not be scared of what we could be.
For when I see your nose scrunch when you smile,
and your blue eyes stare back at me.
I know there is no one else I would rather
give up me for we.
