What Friendship Is For? - Poem by Paul Prescott

I use to think we were best friends,
I used to think we'd be there till the end,
I guess the time has come now,
The end now is here

Why don't you understand?
You kept on spreading lies,
You kept on doing things I hate,
An here’s me thinking we were friends

I stood by you, when everyone left you,
I did what friends would do,
But still you stabbed me in the back,
You broke our friendship

You were my best friend,
But I don't understand anymore,
Nothing else seems to make sense,
Is what friendship is for?
