What Good Is A Day? Poem by Allison Barnett

What Good Is A Day?

What good is a day without you?
What is it worth?
Nothing. That's what.
I'm not sad, no tears will mark my face.
I am angry
How could you do this to me?
You broke all those promises
Went back on every word
And to think, I actually believed you!
I drank up those lies like life-giving water
But it turned out to be acid
Oh how I regret it
No, I just regret you
You've done your damage
and left a chunk of black ice
where a human's heart is supposed to be
I hope you're happy with what you've left behind
But make no mistake
You will pay
