What Have We Become Poem by Mia McLain

What Have We Become

How would it feel if I walked away?
Could it hurt you as much as it would me?
Would you even beg me to stay?

So much has happened but at the end of the day,
What we have or had wont leave me be,
How would it feel if I walked away?

I fear what we had has faded to grey.
Am I still what you want or is it he?
Would you even beg me to stay?

I don’t know what to call you anyways.
If we’re friends or not I’m afraid to wait and see.
How would it feel if I walked away?

You think of my feelings a toy to play.
But let me say my heart isn’t free.
Would you even beg me to stay?

In the end you’ll always leave me astray.
To afraid to speak I’ll always stand like a tree.
How would it feel if I walked away?
Would you even beg me to stay?
