What Is Love? Poem by Kaviya Preethi

What Is Love?

Love is not a sin,
It is natural, common,
More beautiful than words can hold.

Yet today, many say
Love is only between boy and girl,
Often tangled with desire.

But truth is deeper—
Love is kindness,
Love is peace,
Love is a solution,
Love is everything, everywhere.

Love your neighbour,
Love the world around you,
Love the mystery of the universe,
Love all—
For love is all.

You need not say,
'I want to be loved, '
For you are already loved,
In countless hidden ways.

If you feel alone, unloved,
Ask yourself:
'Why do I seek love? '
Instead of waiting, give it—
Be the one who loves.

For everyone, everywhere,
Is already loved,
And love never stops—
It travels endlessly.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem after hearing the tragic news of a 20-year-old boy from our college who took his life due to a heartbreak. This news broke my heart deeply. It made me realize that many young people in this generation misunderstand love. At that moment, I wrote this poem to express what real love truly is—something bigger, universal, and all-encompassing beyond just romantic feelings. This poem is my humble attempt to share that love is everywhere, and everyone is already loved.
