Sufi poetry—what is it?
It is not merely rhyme and meter,
But a divine glow
In the night of the heart.
It is that melody
Which is heard in silent moments,
Where sound dissolves
And the secret of eternity is revealed.
It is the spring of divine knowledge,
Flowing behind the veil,
Where the fragrance of the *Breath of the Merciful*
Drips drop by drop
Upon the thirsty soul of the seeker.
These are the voices
That emerge not from lips, but from hearts,
And are inscribed upon the tablet of the soul.
It is the call of the path of love,
Which neither reason nor senses comprehend—
It is the echo of *'I am the Truth'*
That shone in Mansur's blood.
It is that tongue
Which silently chants *'Hu'* in stillness,
And in the fragrance of Oneness,
Dissolves itself entirely.
It is the manifestation of divine knowledge,
From the mirror-house of the inner self,
Where Gabriel's mediation is not needed—
Direct revelation is received
Upon the heart's sanctuary.
It is the inspiration that comes after the dream,
And turns wakefulness into a dream.
The Sufi's eloquence
Is honeyed light—
A secret wrapped in words,
Unveiled only to the pure-hearted
When they recite the Quran in silence,
And in every verse, find themselves.
This is the art
That transcends letters—
A silent resonance,
The echo of *'Be! '*
It is bound neither by time
Nor by fear of annihilation,
From eternity to eternity,
It stands firm, everlasting.
When the world strays down paths of misguidance,
And hearts freeze
In the cold storms of materialism,
When temples tremble
And sincerity is lost—
Even then, Sufi poetry
Continues to burn in hearts.
It is the whisper
Of that era
When love named the stars,
And in the moon's silence,
A covenant of two souls was sealed.
Even today, the descendants of saints,
The pure-hearted,
On the shores of existence,
Carve light into molds of hymns and praise,
Where there is no machine, no logic—
Only passion and truth.
If the world
Drowns in the worship of speed and wealth,
If inner beauty
Is buried beneath the dust of appearances—
Even then, this remembrance remains.
Even if
Time sinks into darkness,
Or pulpits and prayer niches crumble—
Sufi poetry will endure—
A hidden murmur,
A soulful flute,
Heard only by those
Whose hearts are aflame
With the light of divine love.
