What Keeps You?

“What keeps you from salvation child?
Why still persist in running wild?
With wanton guile you break my law
Thus fail the way to Heaven’s door

What keeps you child from serving me?
Humble yourself on bended knee
Why won’t you turn from wayward sin?
And ask The Truth to dwell within?

What keeps you from your pilgrim search?
A place reserved within my church?
Salvation’s free to one and all
Why continue from grace to fall?

What keeps you in your wicked ways?
Why selfish lust must fill your days?
Resist the devil come to me!
I’ll loose his chains and set you free

What keeps you hiding from my face?
You think your sin’s beyond my grace
Come now to me with contrite heart
From you my child I’ll never part

What keeps you from my Truth and Light?
I long to help you win Life’s fight
But first the cross your heart must share
And see your Saviour dying there

What keeps you from your second birth?
The time’s so short you spend on earth
True life begins if you decide
To end your ways and be my bride

What keeps you in the devil’s hand?
Come out my child and understand
For you I died bore all the pain
That you and I in love can reign.
