What Might Have Been Poem by Eloida Capuno

What Might Have Been

Rating: 3.9

we agreed it was time to go
even if the mere thought of not
having you around sends shiver
to my spine
you and i knew we don't stand
a chance
we could never be
but we stubbornly defied convention

because we believed
love is not defined by morality
or that dictated by society
yet the heart's yearnings are second only
to what is best under the circumstance
we had to give in
and surrender the possibilities
all of what might have been.
