What She Wants... Poem by Farah Taskin

What She Wants...

Dreams and desires vary among individuals
Some individuals want to be billionaires, while others want to be page-there celebrities
Some individuals want to join in a think tank
The rest suffocate under a brilliant canopy of waking visions
The wings of their desires do not break, neither does the silk skin of their minds shed
Like a kite with severed string, they wander in pursuit of dreams
She watches these paddlers of dreams
She also knows that the number of successful individuals is quite large
But she's a lone bird refusing the flock, a river craving its own path, or a star that burns in a different colour
Every moment means the world to her
She wants to drink the nectar of every passing second
She wants to gather the scattered sunlight of each day and weave it into a life of joy
She wants to savour the symphony of each passing day and night
She wants happiness, love and satisfaction
The allure of fame and wealth brings dissatisfaction
There's no point in having high expectations in such a short life
She wants to spend cosy hours with her favourite things
Every moment is a gift she holds in her incredibly thankful heart
She counts her countless blessings
Peace and contentment are what she desires most

What She Wants...
