What The Devil Told Me Poem by Dozie Wogu

What The Devil Told Me

Rating: 5.0

Deep in the heart of hearts
As I planned my life to serve
Without any form of pride
To work with the only God

I felt a tap on my back
I never turned to see
But he would not leave me alone
he started an incessant whisper

'You will fail in your studies'
'You can never be perfect'
'You are not fit for the work'
'You are too young'

'You are a sympathizer'
'Your type is not needed here'
'Your health will fail you'
'Your time will never be useful'
'There will be too much meetings'

And.......
Get out you deceiver
i yelled as
I called on God
He came to my plea
Assuring me of my safety
Removing every lie the devil told me
Holding my hands in His.
