What The Universe Holds. Poem by MIRAK Montiel

What The Universe Holds.

Title: What the Universe Holds

Sometimes the sea inside me gets wild.
Waves crash, and I forget how to breathe.
But then, your hand finds mine—
and everything softens.
You calm the storm without a word.

You've told me
that my ways can wear you down.
And I hear you now,
in a way I didn't before.

I don't want to keep walls around my heart anymore.
They kept the pain out,
but they also kept you out.
I'm learning to let them fall,
piece by piece,
because you're worth the risk.

Yesterday's mistakes
are becoming today's understanding.
I'm not perfect, but I'm present.
I'm growing.

So let's find out what the universe holds
for whatever this is—
this quiet, powerful thing between us.

Stay strong through my wild ways,
and I promise:
one day,
we'll find our way.
Together.
