The first time I saw a cat
I gazed at it in wonder
But it was scared and it spat
And off I had to wander
But I had noticed its eyes
They were alien yellow
And its meowing and its cries
It was a noisy fellow
It was covered in black fur
And it walked on all four limbs
Later I came to know its purr
And that it roamed when day dims
It loved to be in the dark
Who knows what beasts it would stalk?
Perhaps a mouse in the park?
I don't know, it wouldn't talk
The first time I saw a cat
I was only about two
But I loved everything that
A cat, any cat, is - don't you?
