Which Of The Things Poem by Riitta Gyllenbogel

Which Of The Things

I think I ought to do today
shall I actually be doing this day?
can't be doing them all at once,
must pick and choose where I may,
and by the end of the day I may well find
what I did was something
altogether different anyway.
which of the things I think I must do
I actually need to do?
haven't a clue.
(have you?)

well now, can't be helped,
will make do
with whatever gets done.
and by the end of the day
in the darkness of night
when this particular song is sung
I'll be glad to know
everything did go
just exactly right
whatever else I might
have planned in the morning light.
