White Lotus Poem by Avery Eglantine

White Lotus

The air ‘twas warm
I'm beguiled to the charm
of the white lotus in view
The spirits were dancing
in a way like conversing
‘twas like pure morning dew
The spirits were glowing
and the mist ‘twas flowing
and the leaves rained in a cue
The Kois, they're surrounding
the maiden who's floating
like keeping her to the few
But to realize they were guarding
a prisoner, they're watching
the lotus understood—she do!
She was a water bound spirit
except me; they all knew it
the elegance ‘twas so true!
Mine fascination ruined
when I realized I was falling
to the pond, where sprawls the crew
The seal I hath broken, the lotus hath risen
her eyes hath now opened and her lips, were they smiling?
Then she gracefully said "it's you"
I wonder, I wonder
‘twas a thought to ponder
how would she know me too?
‘twas no more than a minute
when she finally admitted, the crime she've committed
she said "'twas for loving you."
I was lost in word
‘twas just out of this world
I asked "when have I met you? "
I think and paused for so long
that she started singing a song
she sang "I was in the sky when ‘twas blue! "
I was enamoured by her voice
to ask for more was a choice
she sang "I was with the wind when it blew! "
I was enticed by the tone
‘twas like of a Goddess in throne
She sang "All the time, I had been with you! "
‘tas now brought me chills
I don't know how she feels
‘twas definitely frighteningly true!
I caught a glimpse of my image reflecting,
I was agonized to death of what I'm seeing
‘twas a witch I was staring, my throat she was holding
I whispered slowly "Today, am I dying? "
Then the spirits went dancing
in a way like rejoicing
‘twas like my time is due
The air ‘twas warm
I'm beguiled to the charm
of the white lotus in view.
