Who Can! Be Saved?

It’s not at first what eye can see
By snare it’s never caught
But like the wind it comes quite free
Once Jesus’ face we’ve sought

Ordained to us, by Heaven’s grace
God’s gift through Christ on high
Salvation scans the human race
Searches for you and I

Through planted Seed within the heart
The Lord sets faith alight
Which shows the need from sin to part
If life’s to be in sight

But will we part from what we love?
What now on earth we prize?
Is trust the way to Christ above?
Is faith enough to rise?

Who guarantees what can’t be won?
What none on earth can give?
What assurance has Christ God’s Son?
That man through faith can live?

Salvation’s not a passing trend
God gives His grace to stay
The smallest child can comprehend
When wisdom blows our way

Wisdom! The bride may take to hand
When gold from Christ she’s bought
She’ll learn in truth to understand
Complacence counts for nought

We’ll end up nowhere on our own
Except the pit of hell
But thirst within man’s heart of stone
May cause to seek Life’s Well.
