Who Left Whom? Poem by Ayokunle Adeleye

Who Left Whom?

Who left whom?
I can't but wonder
She abandoned me like I'm now in a tomb
Yet she feels I'm the one who ought to ponder

I held her close to my heart
I gave her all I had
I know I played my part
But when it came to her I was a fad

Guess I was no longer in vogue
Hence my becoming a 'rogue'
She was done with me, I could go to hell
Whether she's found another, no one can tell!

I had seen the symptoms long ago
Long ago, when the poisoning must have started
Back then it almost caused
a row
And for some time I felt deserted

Our meeting had been a miracle
Our gettig close, a wonder
But now our friendship is a fragile tentacle
Whose matrix is about to sunder!

And when an innocent hug became a sin
I knew there was a bug
Suddenly I must not touch her thing:
Obviously, in the hedge there is a hog!
