Why Are Your Hands Dirty? Poem by George Stanworth

Why Are Your Hands Dirty?

"Why are your hands dirty?
Wash them now inside."
"Mum, I have been busy,
making insect pies."

"Why are your hands dirty?
Wash them before tea."
"Mum, I have been busy,
painting the TV."

"Why are your hands dirty?
Wash them now with soap."
"Mum, I have been busy,
building us a moat."

"Why are your hands dirty?
My boss is going to call."
"Mum, I have been busy,
with hand-prints on the wall."

"Why are your hands dirty?
With nails all full of dough."
"Mum, I tried to make you cakes,
because I love you so."
