Will God Forgive?

The living Christ is always near
His Holy Ghost sees all
But is God pleased to see me here?
Again in filth to fall

The thoughts pulsating through my mind
Cascades and floods my heart
How was I fooled made easily blind?
It keeps from God apart

Will God once more my sins forgive?
Will Jesus stand me by?
Will righteousness allow me live?
Or still condemned to die?

Will God forgive my jaunt of sin?
Will Christ my shame still bear
Or will again the devil grin?
For what I soon may share

My cup, I’ve filled with devil’s brew
To shame, I turned my face
Perverting what was right and true
And strangulating grace

Will God and I be reconciled?
Will Jesus understand?
Will Life dismiss this wayward child?
Or hell stretch forth it’s hand?

Before The Dove of Christ takes flight
Returns to God above
I’ll seek to climb the hill of light
I’ll seek the face of Love

With heavy heart with quaking soul
Spirit in deep despair
I’ll try to quit this evil hole
My shame The Lord to bear
