Winding Down Poem by Mary Champion

Winding Down

Convulsive lier in wait,
coiling, writhing snake,
slithering, sliding serpent,
turning, twisting,
slipping silently
in pursuit of its hapless prey.

Sluggishly sated,
it sleeps at the end of the day.
