Wintertime in Minnesota.
The air grows crisp,
the leaves turn gold,
Minnesota winter,
stories told.
Black bear yawns,
a sleepy sigh,
Time for slumber,
way up high.
Groundhog digs,
a cozy den,
Winter's coming,
sleep till then.
Chipmunk scurries,
seeds to hide,
Safe and warm,
where they reside.
Bats hang sleeping,
in the eaves,
Waiting for
the warmer leaves.
Turtle burrows,
in the mud,
Life slows down,
as winters bud.
9Snake coils tight,
beneath a rock,
A frozen sleep,
until the thaw.
Froggy hides,
near icy pond,
Almost frozen,
life beyond.
Spiders, bugs, seek sheltered place,
Metabolism slows,
a sleepy pace.
The world is hushed, a snowy scene,
Until the spring, when life turns green.
