Wisdom Poem by Neville Malatsi

Wisdom

Treacherous are the waters of life
From boons of Theseus and the Oracle
Only can one steer the tides
When evils bequeathed from Pandora's Box,
When plagues and blights mark sentient beings
Does the chalice of mindfulness;
Holding the ambrosia of knowledge
Bestow wisdom; the benevolent form of Ego
Lesser men should navigate close upon shore
For the cultivation of wisdom is a great chore
With pain as mentor; under experience's tutelage
Does iron become steel; water into wine; man, into god
"Alas, I have reached the age of reason and enlightenment"

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The meanderings and wanderings of souls as they traverse the sea of illusion - this world - unto that horizon harbouring transcendence from suffering - the chalice held by Sophia containing Wisdom
