Wonderful Acquaintances Poem by JOHNNY COBB

Wonderful Acquaintances

I've posted a few poems on poetry.com
And now have two that are in print.
Never knew what adventures this would lead to
When 'Nature's Gift' was 'sent'.

An international symposium of poets,
2400 people convening in Orlando.
The idea was certainly intriguing
I want to go... to Disney's Coronado.

As we waited in line to register
People chatted and were so friendly.
Such diversity in age, colors and hair styles
But these poets are 'normal' like me.

In the open mic rooms, people spoke from their heart.
So many were inspired by September 11th.
Their poems told a story, their story.
We listened and learned and shared.

From Egypt, Argentina, Iceland and Australia
Germany, the Caribbean and far distances...
Florence Henderson, the Coasters and Shangri-Las
I made some wonderful acquaintances.
