Words From A Poet Poem by Jimmy L. Lyons

Words From A Poet

The words of the Lord are a pure as silver,
tested in the furnace of earth.
Oh Lord my God, open my eyes;
I have trusted in your mercy,
and my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

God is in generations of the righteous;
I am not ashamed to sing to the Lord.
I will love thee, oh Lord, my strength;
I will call upon you who are worthy to be praised
more than gold - more than much fine gold.
Your love is sweeter then honey and the honeycomb.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart
praise the Lord's righteousness.

The God of salvation has spread loving kindness before my eyes,
and I have walked in the truth.
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice in his righteousness,
and shout for joy all you that are upright in heart.
The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
By the word of the Lord, the heavens were made,
and all the hosts of heaven by the breath of his mouth.
He gathered the waters of the sea together
I am hungry for salvation, hungry for the Word.

Humble my soul with fasting and prayer;
I will praise you joyfully with the harp.
I praise you, oh God.
Great is the Lord our God, and greatly is He to be praised.
In the cities and on the mountains,
he is our God forever and ever.
God is my salvation and my glory, the rock of my strength.
My mouth shall praise him with joyful lips,
and I will rejoice in the shadow of his wings.
