Yearnings Poem by Robert R. Railey

Yearnings

Yearnings

My heartstrings bend and sway as emotions change me from
Day to day
For love can raise our hopes and dreams, but then dash our
Fate, as it may?
But if the one who's adored must not be known, then her
Thoughts, pray may be swayed

For thoughts of you still fill my days with hopes of future
Rendezvous
Tis enough for now, to just wish and dream, but will tomorrow
See me through?
Or have to quit, or have to stay, it's your moment, it's of your
Say

So will my love for you remain, and sustain the pains of little
Gain?
For fear of hurt and rejection would to you in person, be brave
And reckless to declare-
The depths of love we wish to share while feelings tell us to;
A sign if so you dare?

A love can stand alone for a while, forlorn and half-grown like
A child
But to prosper and grow love needs care, a sensitive word
Every once in a while?
Perhaps in the mind of the one who's adored, the wants and
Longings are yet ignored?

But if dreams would, and wishes could, turn the
Tides of devotion?
For my love for you would surely expose your heart and
True emotions
Be unafraid then, to announce if it's true, don't hold back for
Fear

For pen and paper are of the courage for the ones who feel the
Pangs of love
But why does saying what we feel come hardest to
Explain?
Alas the coward must then conceal and only write what
Should be plain

To have the courage to bare our souls, afraid of nothing is our goal!
For when we stand before the one of awe, our secret thoughts
Must then be told
The time has come to state the truth, and the time has now come to
Be bold!

Life without love would be dark and dismal, so why even try to
Endeavor?
For if love is felt and shared together then the ages of time will
Be forever!
If these declarations are signed and true, then two our loves
Will come together
