You Poem by Barry Hughes

You

Stuck in a place I don’t want to be
Wishing and hoping for a way to get free
Free from a place of few friends and less love
Trying to escape into my father above
Before I felt numb knowing nothing but hate
But now you have shown me what is at stake
There are people out there that don’t know your name
And people out there who know and don’t change
In a world full of sin and mistakes
You’ve shown me the difference one person can make

You brought me back from the dead, and you gave me a friend
You took my story of life, and changed the whole end
You showed me why I was needed, in this place filled with hate
And that sometimes I just need a new way to relate
I still often wish I could be with my friends
But I know they are in your hands in the end
So show them your face and tell them I care
Don’t let them forget that you'll always be there
