You Came Back Poem by Infinity Poetry

You Came Back

You came back
It didn't phase me much
I still only want him
I reminisced momentarily
I waited for the hurt to resurface
But it didn't
My heart won't hurt for you anymore
Right now, it only beats because of him
This angel I now have in my life

I can't love you again
The pain I felt when you left was real
But the pain I'd feel if he changed his mind,
It would be similar
Maybe our love wasn't as unique as I thought

I don't love him,
Not like I loved you
But I could, maybe more
He allows me to feel safe, wanted
But most of all, happiness
You broke me down, he built me up
I'm stronger than ever
I won't go back, not now, never

He knows about us, about how I felt
Without explanation
Like he can read my emotions
Simply, by looking into my eyes
I used to want you
But I will not refuse him
Because he has made all the difference

You're simply a collection of ink on a small piece of paper
An old message that I forgot to delete
You're the dead flowers that still lay on my dash board
The ring I tucked away in the top drawer
You're nothing more than the memories my mind can't erase
