You Can't Wish For Love Poem by Kathleen Cardinal Farnsworth

You Can't Wish For Love

I found a ring of gold
lying in my bed
there was a note beside it
and this is what it said:

Wear me on your finger
with pride and joy to you
turn the stone twice around
and wishes will come true

when reading this I was surprised
and threw it on the ground
I never thought to read the end
of the note that I had found

so I placed the ring upon my finger
and glanced at its beauty and charm
thinking of such luxuries
not knowing it would cause harm

I wished for clothes
and money of green
not realizing i was becoming
corrupt and mean

I had wished during the day
and late at night
then I fell in-love
with love at first sight

I found out,
he can't love me..
cause with this ring
came lies and dishonesty

after being hurt, I ran up the stairs..
crying on my bed
knowing he had cared
I thought and thought of the
note on the ground..
reopening it up, this is what I found:

You can't get what you want
by turning a stone twice
cause everything in this world
has some sort of price

so I wished back the things
that I had wished for,
and love that was once
is love once more

then I had realized
you have to have a heart of gold
for love to come to you
you can't wish upon a ring
if you want love to be true..
