You Didn't Seem To Notice Poem by Siobhan Niven

You Didn't Seem To Notice

You didn't seem to notice, when I dyed my hair.
You didn't seem to notice, when I got new clothes to wear.
You didn't seem to notice, the effort that I made.
You didn't seem to notice, my spirit starts to fade.

You didn't seem to notice, the words that went unsaid.
You didn't seem to notice, the books I bought, but never read.
You didn't seem to notice, I was falling apart.
You didn't seem to notice, I had a broken heart.

You didn't seem to notice, when I stopped going out.
You didn't seem to notice, whispered words turned to a shout.
You didn't seem to notice, the 2am tears.
You didn't seem to notice, my life again plagued with fears.

You didn't seem to notice, the photographs I took.
You didn't seem to notice, the Sadness in my look.
You didn't seem to notice, the beauty in my art.
You didn't seem to notice, when I fell apart.

You didn't seem to notice, the unravelling of the thread.
You didn't seem to notice, the demons in my head.
You didn't seem to notice, when I got really ill.
You didn't seem to notice, when I took another pill.

You didn't seem to notice, the calls I never made.
You didn't seem to notice, the words that I said.
You didn't seem to notice, I tried and tried again.
You didn't seem to notice, my hurt and pain.

You didn't seem to notice, when I turned the other cheek.
You didn't seem to notice, when I didn't speak.
You didn't seem to notice, as I lay in my bed.
You didn't seem to notice, I wanted to be dead.

You didn't seem to notice, me rejecting the call.
You didn't seem to notice, me rise above it all.
You didn't seem to notice, that I'd never walk away.
You didn't seem to notice, when silently I'd pray.

You didn't seem to notice, for us, I wanted a better life.
You didn't seem to notice, me trying to be a better mother and wife.

You don't seem to notice, that I struggle every day.
You don't seem to notice, that I do it anyway.
You don't seem to notice, that I am still here.
You don't seem to notice, that is an achievement every year.

You don't seem to notice, even when I'm better, I'm not.
You don't seem to notice, the help I need but haven't got.

You don't seem to notice, how hard it is to live.
You don't seem to notice, it's a gift that I give.
You don't seem to notice, me fighting hard each day.
You don't seem to notice, that's just to stay this way.

You don't seem to notice, the effort that I give.
You don't seem to notice, that I want to live.
You don't seem to notice, the plans that I've made.
You don't seem to notice, me trying to step out from the shade.

You won't seem to notice, when I reach my goal.
You won't seem to notice, the next time I'm 'in a dark hole'.
You won't seem to notice, when I think you should.

But I know you'll notice, when everything's finally good.
