You Don't Have To Say You Love Me Poem by Vonnie Postit

You Don't Have To Say You Love Me

you don't have to say you love me
just be closer then
you don't have to stay forever
i will understand
believe me
oh, believe me

the first time you held my hand
you told me you did not believe in glue
or the power of paper.
i know there are still thousands of kisses
and tongue talking with mouth words, crankiness
(yours or mine)
but i can't help but feel
you walk out the door as if it's a warm up.
i do not intend to tell you i love you but
when the sun hits you right
it makes me feel daring.
i will not have regrets

you don't have to say you love me,
just be closer then.
you don't have to stay forever,
i will understand.
believe me,
oh, believe me.

waiting in your bed i'm thinking about
your cute feet.
i wonder if you hear me when i squeeze
your hand or kiss your ears.
i spend all day talking but i wonder if you hear my lips.
i have begun saying goodbye to you
from the first time you called me love,
i know it can never be more than semi permanent ink.

you don't have to say you love me
just be closer then
you don't have to stay forever
i will understand
believe me,
oh, believe me
