You Dont Need Grammar Poem by Jean Bernard Parr

You Dont Need Grammar

They say walk before run
but its not true

teachers mess you up
make you walk slowly
like that man on the moon

you think you need school
before you write a book
well take another look

if you get that feeling
just get down to it soon

its the same with grammar
all that learning
will make you stammer

knowing what is
a reflexive verb, or an epithet
transferred
is not a precondition
of the avant garde tradition

so write down that gobbledegook
while its real hot
that's what the Beats did
and look where they got
