You'Re My Solace. Poem by Rikku Finry

You'Re My Solace.

What would life be like
If I didn't have you?
Colorless? A blur?
Motionless? Like I'm running in place?
I'd only see figments of memories,
and fragments of broken dreams.
The world would whirl around me,
and lightly course my body with its cold
Touch.
I'd feel nothing;
as if everything didn't matter.

You're my Solace.

What is my life like
because I have you?
Fluorescent? With great clarity?
Poignant? Running at a fast pace?
I'd see beautiful after-images of you
hovering in my mind;
and after-images of dreams to memories.
The world would stand by me,
and embrace me in its warm arms.
I'd feel extravagant;
as if slowly, everything is falling into place.

You're my solace.
