Young Poem by Nightshade Starlight

Young

They call us young
And they think that we can't decide.
We're too young to realize
What the world is like.
We haven't lived long enough
To understand what is going on
And we don't know how everything works.
They think that we don't understand.
The adults judge and put catagories on us.
This child can't do this,
She can't do that,
He's not fit to do something like that.
Yet the adults don't seem to remember
what it's like to have to deal with drama.
Having to deal with presuring parents
Trying to push their children this way and that.

The young do understand,
We can make our own decisions
Despite how old we are.
We have lived in this world and now your just keeping us back.
You consider us foolish, but we need to learn
What we want to do, and that means making mistakes.
It means that we can be on our own and we do understand
What its like to have fun to have to work.
Adults may not remember what its like to be our age
Which sperates us by a ton.
The forget that they are trying to make us go down a certain path
That they've chosen for us.

Sometimes I wonder who is really the foolish one.
