Your Blood On Your Friend's Knife Poem by Alvin Magsino

Your Blood On Your Friend's Knife

To a friend, never show your back;
He’s waiting for the perfect timing,
He’s holding a jealous knife,
To stab you behind your back-
He’d smile by the taste of your ripened blood.
Teach him you know at best,
Let him do the rest,
And soon you’ll find yourself
Behind his shadow cold and wet.
And the wisdom you shared,
Composed his words with confidence;
Made him step over your head,
Leaving your shadow stained.
Like a hungry dog you met;
You gave a portion of bread,
The next moment,
He grabbed your part
together with your hand.
Like an orphan homed by a rich man;
Dressed, cared, and loved with great,
But when he had learnt of his wealth,
He wished for the old man’s early death.
