Rachel Birbeck Poems

Breathe heavy and let it in the masculine scent
Hang your parfum above my head in an organza
As fresh as the redolence is the scenes I bear
You're lying beside me still, memories blent.
...

Where I stayed my stance emplace
Felt desire for right I turn my face
There was a ghost to haunt this place
I spoke no words like his fingers laced
...

When I first saw your face,
Compassionate, knowing, audacious.
Filled my eyes with moons and stars and love poured out.
...

Aghast to be followed still not alone
ethereal being witnessed when not at home.
Across faces and faces one catches my eye,
visitant watches until I outcry-
...

So lost of love and life, still I wander
Mourning alerts the late morning waker
To hear such shrieks begin they gather
Take up my shells of heart and matter

September Roses

Breathe heavy and let it in the masculine scent
Hang your parfum above my head in an organza
As fresh as the redolence is the scenes I bear
You're lying beside me still, memories blent.

Look into my eyes one more time, touch my skin
Black holes without you, bring back the spark you brought
And with heat, our heartbeat; I feel whole in your arms
I cannot keep you here but grasp at what has been.

Fragrance may fade, and with it takes what I need
Your memory alive in notes of cologne
But alike the September roses you planted
You perished when the cold came and your soul freed.

Come back to me lover, let me meet you again
Carried with our favourite flowers to you
Don't pull me from the light, but draw me in
Let your scent fill my lungs and stop the memories pain.

Your ambrosial organza fades, I begin to lose you
And take with it my images and desire to stay
For years alone against the vows you had made to me
Oh! Vehement desire I pray bring me back to you.
