Ruby James Poems

Static drowns you out.
My hair lays flat
and out of place
like a time machine for my bathroom mirror.
...

Dance with me beneath the sheets so I can fall
Into your arms.
To be completely wrapped within another's soul.
I will curl up and be truly warm.
...

Clip clop on the pavement,
it hits hard down there
Always catching you unawares.
Black cat please cross by path
...

She can't control his rage,
when she come's out to play.
Her body just becomes his stage,
as he performs his pain.
...

Spiral downward to the End,
Paradise or Neverland,
Take the Rabbit by the hand,
and speak what you don't understand.
...

I have become an illusion accidentally,
a woman purposefully,
and a believer indefinitely.
The world has turned upside-down.
...

It leaves a bad taste in my mouth,
What I've left undone that is
I try to wash it away,
I scratch and I scratch
...

Caress me again
We almost spilt the coffee
Thank you parking lot
...

Impatience is the door that never closes,
If you don't pass thru the imposters pass you,
Passion is the pot, potency the ladle.
The time so long passes I fear it will burn.

I Didn't Really Want Iced Coffee Today Anyway

Static drowns you out.
My hair lays flat
and out of place
like a time machine for my bathroom mirror.
I think I actually got something I
wanted.
Something I truly yearned for but
all it leaves is me to
hunger for more.
The universe is an overflowing sack of irony
stretching and pushing my mind to eat
my own heart.
'To protect you must destroy', she seductively whispers.
What does she know?
I'd rather listen to
something new,
something green and natural.
I care what you think, who you are, how you feel
but my
concentration
keeps losing
grip.
The snow
plays a
sweet melody of harps in my heart yet
cannot find the rhythm of drums in my bones.
The thought of beauty
opens up the ache.
Time falls out in chunks like an
ice machine.
I try to catch all the pieces but
they are already melting the want of
possibility.
Not one by one but all in
unison,
as if they are really
all connected as a
single and final memory of
what is left
of your dreaming.
You were the first thought in my head as I awoke.
And then I remember...
I didn't really want iced coffee today anyway.
