Life I Never Imagined

Life I never imagined,
not the path I walk today.
At twelve I dreamed of shining lights,
of success carved in my own way.
I dreamed of love in tender forms,
but never marriage, never a home—
never saw myself as someone's wife,
never thought a family would grow.

Yet love arrived and changed my fate,
a baby placed upon my chest—
a godly being, pure and soft,
the part of me I love the best.
But storms came too, and tore our skies,
we stumbled hard, we broke, we cried.
The journey scarred our fragile hearts,
yet still we stand, still side by side.

Life shifted shades before my eyes,
and now I see the world anew.
The truest love I've ever known
is in his eyes—so bright, so true.
My heart still aches from battles past,
pain bleeding from my weary soul.
I shake in silence, scream in showers,
nights where tears take quiet control.

Loneliness follows in crowded rooms,
a shadow pressed against my spine.
I try to smile, to please the world,
pretending every wound is fine.
But healing never came to me—
not fully, not in any form.
I walk each day with hidden weight,
a quiet, never-ending storm.

Dear son, forgive these trembling truths,
forgive the storms inside my chest.
I promise you the safest love,
I promise you my very best.
I'll fight the world to guard your joy,
to give you life beyond my fears.
My love for you is endless fire,
a vow written in blood and tears.

I don't know if I'll ever be
the laughing wife I used to hold—
the one who loved with open hands,
with fearless heart and spirit bold.
But I can promise this, my son:
I'll be your shelter, warm and true.
I may be flawed, I may be bruised—
but I will be a mother who loves you.
