where she tried to hide.
She had been beaten
and she felt dead inside.

with love inscribed on wood,
carved initials in a heart
where true love surely stood.

The thoughts of fun and laughter
and most of all her date.

I glanced in the mirror
and my looks caused a strain.
My image was sloppy
and my appearance was plain.

You are the kind of friend
that wipes away the tears.
You comfort like an angel
that also calms my fears.

The day was coming to a close
for the fearful and the weary,
preparing for a peaceful night
I saw something black and hairy.

They have raised their weapons
against me that I might know.
After all that I've been through
there is no broken heart to show.
