William WJS Poems

How can something so real, so new, so right, be anything but?
When what has been waited on for so long
Yet once arrived has only been for such a short time
...

What does it mean when something we once loved is now something loathed
It is not easily dismissed, despite constant efforts to expel uncontrollable emotions,
Emotions not sought for but run from, looking back every step of the way.
...

It is something that cannot be attained possessively
Said to be concrete, yet it may become brittle and crack apart
So much is put into it but assurance is only in the mind of the beholder
It is fortress mutually established yet can easily be destroyed by one
...

Can it truly be defined as, 'Hope'
Can the word be used when there is doubt behind it
Even if it is subconscious, it brings false meaning to the thought.

Anything But?

How can something so real, so new, so right, be anything but?
When what has been waited on for so long
Yet once arrived has only been for such a short time

Thoughts of truth only now can be a mindless blur of what was thought real
To be anything and everything, perfect in someone's eyes
Yet suddenly not sufficient in what was hoped for after such lengths

Now finding meaning in thoughts is something new
Finding truth in the reality of what is not desired
Faith in hope for what may come, and what I know and trust will come
Even though there is no true way to know certainly

Not knowing if the past is a representation of the future to set for
Or if it is a concept to be reveled in and expelled from memory

I find myself someone I never knew, someone who is unexplainable
Even to the inside of the one who has these feelings

Time will only tell what will come of me
Until then I will be unchanged, with resolve as my hope.
