Let Us Go For A Walk Poem by Valsa George

Let Us Go For A Walk

Rating: 4.8

Oh Dad, on this fine morn, let us go for a walk
On the way you can meet your friends and talk
The road is quiet and the meadows wide
All you need is to keep your gloom aside

Dad, you were once such a charming debonair
Of late I see you reclining on your arm chair
How we want you to be smart as before
And see the lost cheer, you quickly restore

On this fine morning let us roam a bit
When tired, in the shade of trees, we will rest
Such outings are needed for your health
You used to remind us that health is wealth

Seeing you thoroughly lost, causes us much pain
How we like to see our dad smiling once again
It is depressing to see you so feeble and faint
Know that you are absolutely free of any complaint

If your sharp senses, once more you employ
Do you know how great will be our joy!
Why you refuse to listen and pretend to be deaf?
All we strive is to see you return to your former self

Why keep unnecessary anxieties inside?
Be assured, we are always by your side
Know that you have no cause for alarm
Believe, you are free of all serious harm

The love you lavished on us, we can never forget
Your present lackluster spirit is all that we object
Don't sit here so lonely, brooding and yawning
Come on Dad! Let us go for a walk this morning!

ageing, reclining in retirement. i will read others of your work. the rhymed couplets are really old style & boring to me, sorry, don't mean any disrespect. arthur patrick budke (message to poet page: your programming is incorrect. eg this poet has 15,000 or more pooints, yet it says on her page no activity; personally i don't like poetry slamming, nor the north american format of competition for most everything. poetry is to be read, quietly alone in print or to be heard as a live reading. this is classic old school & open for criticism.

Love of Dad is ever memorable. Going with Dad in a walking makes this very special and provokes to think about childhood days. Really wonderful presentation makes this special poem.

How we like to see our dad smiling once again A walk, a dinner together, and talk about glorious past will rejuvenate the spirit. Nicely put in a thoughtful touching poem. Thank you.

A great poem depicting a daughter's concern for her father. Depression is a serious concern in old age. Well-done dear poet sharing with us all.

Valsa you've captured perfectly what it is like for children all over the world to try to help a depressed apathetic parent with low motivation to regain some of their former glory and live again. I hope many children and parents read this poem to help them with such tasks.

A lovely penning remembering Dad for his love and affection and at the same time taking teachings from loving Dad to implement those steps in own life. Truly a fruitful walk with pleasure and ecstasy.
