Little We Understand The Meaning Of True Love Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

Little We Understand The Meaning Of True Love

Rating: 4.0

We were together once,
Long time ago.
Our love was eternal
Not like the dying stars
Or the waning moon.

Not short lived,
Like the fireflies caught in insane races for phantom lights
Or the brisk gusts of the morning breeze
That dies before it reaches the woodland pond.

We were one in heart, mind and soul.
I was here with you
And you were ever so close by.
Your smile was my sun
And my light.

Your songs, sweeter than all nectar
Every rising morn
Filled me with new ecstasy
And I thought our love would never end.

One day I made up my mind to leave,
And you watched me go.
You never stood in my way.

Across areas of beautiful land and star lit sky
Bouncy rivers and serene lakes,
My senses, like insane fireflies flew
Caught in the ecstasy of false attractions.
Little I thought the price was going to be higher than I could pay.

I thank you so much for reading my poem. I am very touched. I try to read your poems, butI am sorry I cannot read Bengali. I am not born in India.
