One Day Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

One Day

The verses once
One day
Will come to a halt.

Next day
And the day
After
And
The week after
And
The month after
And
The years after
The Halting will be
A Frozen Statue.

The tongue of the Poet Seer
First dilapidates with age
Extreme
Then falls and breaks.

Oh, no, I cannot accept that reality of the Poet Seer's falling silent. Of course, he will then die. He must speak to live the way lesser mortals must breathe to live. His speech, his poems, . they are his reason for being, Remember Conan Doyle killed Sherlock Holmes in one of his later stories, he and Moriarty were wrestling near a waterfall and both go over to their deaths, Dr. Watson witnesses it. B-U-T the reading public demanded and got Sherlock back! Mine is probably a solitary voice for the continuation of the Poet Seer!
