The Dance Of The Zombie Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

The Dance Of The Zombie

For the time being we are helpless
We watch our dear ones being whisked off
And feel the ground disintegrating under our feet.
Tears are mere dumb incapacitated means to say how painful it is.

They say that the meek shall inherit the earth
What a mockery!
Weak, meek and strong
Princes and Presidents, have all fallen preys to your voracity,
Unfortunate fated flies in the spider's web.,
Trussed up!

Dance zombie
Dance, despicable evil!
Today and the yesterdays are your days!
Humanity continue to shudder in terror.
One day your dance will stop.
And it will be our turn to laugh and sneer.

And when we do, I shall be amongst those
Who will heartlessly stomp you into the grave that you deserve,
Fathoms into the entrails of this earth.

For I want the flowers to come back,
I want the corn, the barley and the sugar cane to ripen.
I want the fields to thrill
And bristle with ebullient energy and pure aureate sunshine.

The sun to rise fearless
The sea to play its old antiquated ballad
And the ocean to swell
And the parks to become alive with the shrill clamours of children's frolic.

I want the sky to be eternally blue
The birds to sing,
The earth to echo with the exuberance of mellow sounds
I want man's heart to dare the horizons of fear and terror!

The earth has never been a frivolous whim
Made for a day.
The Creator made it to be his own bower of transcendental happiness
The day humanity ends
Will be the day the Creator dies too!
But the lush verdurehas always returned

For some the sun has ceased to rise
Dust to dust.
To them I shed my tears
But lay not your arms down man.
The dead does not fight!

Let the spears of wisdom be ready
Let the faith in the maker be stronger.
At least with the harness of courage on ourbacks
And love in ourheart,
We can rise to the beauty of a new day!

One day the sky will be blue again
And flowers will blossom to the victory of mankind.
The sun will rise
The colours will be brighter,
It will a day!
