To Smile Or Not To Smile Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

To Smile Or Not To Smile

Rating: 5.0

Some say we live only once.
Great news!
With odd things going about these days,
Makes one sick!

Others say we will come again.
I am scared of the wisdom in here.
Still I wonder what side am I on.

Believe me,
I prefer sitting on the fence,
And let the philosophers
Or the politicians have a go at it.

As a poet I love beauty and quietness.
Arguments bore me.
There is beauty in silence,
In the heart beat and running on the hills
And down the mountains
Sploshing in the country stream.

There is beauty in the wild flowers
Stuck by the road sides,
Even wrapped in flying palls of dusts.

Watch the tiny thrush singing
And the black bird tyrolling.
They make my heart heave with transcendental joys.

Why should I care whether I live
Or die
Someone else needs to care about this.
I am sick of it all.

So when my time comes,
I am ready, nicely packaged.
If I do not come back
The parting was well made.
But if I do, we will hopefully have a tot together.
