He is following in his dad's footsteps he is working for dad's company
Of which his dad is a director this called keeping it in the family
He like dad wants to be company director he daydreams of such every day
When on success ladder you are on the first step the top seems a long climb for you away

The dad is a bully and so is his son
Breeding begets breeding when all is said and done
Thirty five years ago the dad was the schoolyard bully the son is today
And the schoolyard bully through life as a bully does stay

His long deceased father's influence it is with him today
And he likes to repeat what his dad used to say
The racism of the father in the son does remain
The infleuence of our mentors until death we retain
...

To say sorry seems such an easy thing to say
But from you that won't take your sense of loss away
You have been burdened with a heavy cross
And time alone can only heal your sense of loss.

She does not like the sensitive new age guys those who like to hug trees
And she doesn't like the young uni going males who strive for their degrees
But she like the muscular footy bloke the one with hairy chest
the rough around the edges type is the man who suits her best.

He stood by us when mum this life departed and we always had great respect for dad
To my siblings and I he was a role model the best role model that I've ever had
And if there's a heaven he is surely up there and I fancy that he often still looks down
On those green old fields he often used to work in at Claraghatlea just west of Millstreet Town.

I know your great grand-dad was a brave man as a hero he lived and he died
In battle under the flag of the Nation his fame it is known far and wide
But i beg to differ when you tell me that in cause of peace he traveled far
And under gunfire died in battle fighting in another man's war

He may be in his eighties but he still does enjoy
Observing the beauty born of Nature as he did as a boy
From her one never does stop learning of Nature he does say
Though to that he adds her secrets from us hidden away

Towards the end of his life he had suffered but of suffering he set himself free
And his final wish by his family was granted that his ashes be scattered at sea
Far north of this Land he was born and far north of here he went to school
And maybe the ocean waves took him back home again to Liverpool.

It is not my mum or my dad's fault since they are not to blame
If i am one of many who has faltered on the road to wealth and fame
It is not their fault in any way if in life i have not done well
I doubt they would feel proud of me for penning doggerel

The young man a racist just like his middle aged dad
His thinking influenced by a biased mentor which seems a bit sad
His idea of a fair go does not include all
Some in their thinking can be very small

She told me her dad was a very good poet
That he was a wordsmith well worthy of note
She read two of his poems to me he was one who did write well
He surely was not a man of doggerel
