Rainbow

Rainbow.

Yesterday,
Before we break the spell of your beauty,
Did you not watch us rubbing both palms,
To read our prayers under every moon,
Promising mama a roof to rest her head,
And not the very best of a wooden coffin.

Every night we quote and coat dreams,
To bury them in between our pure palms
when day sets, we clap them into oceans,
and watch them crawl swiftly deep down.
Like smokes running through a burnt lips.

Today,
When you burnt the boy in us into men,
To form bodies of a river finding home
Did we not creep back with our hands full,
To pull things that went down before dawn
But the more we pull, the more we drown.

Now we found the truth lying in mama's lie
For she said to come out of rainbow colors,
Men do not crawl while their rainbows drift,
For time is but the beauty of a still rainbow,
That creeps slowly into the sky before dusk.
