Why? Why The 'Why'?

Why do I ask?
Why even attempt?
When all I get is a sneering glance
And a scornful grimace?

I ask, I question,
What I not understand,
I guess neither they know
Why they put up with such farce.

For it is insane
Yes, it must be,
And I must add quite unladylike too,
To ask a simple 'Why'.
