A Story Unheard

They're an army, well-trained and well armed.
They know exactly when to attack,
they know perfectly where to stab,
Your legs will stagger
And your sword will drop,
Ay, the sword which never slayed
Or caused a fellow to bleed.
Why are you compelled to succumb?
Are you a soldier who doesn't kill?
Then that is a pity--
they won't let you survive!
You drop on the ground,
Groaning in agony,
Sobbing and snivelling with fear.
You look around but all you see
Is the enemy advancing, Their spears wickedly glinting,
The effluvium of death is all around.
You bleed and once again they stab
on the fresh wound,
they seem to take pleasure
in causing you pain,
they simply wait and watch
as life slowly slips out of your eyes,
Alas, you never realised, the naive
were not meant to survive!
Your story remained unheard,
After all, what soldier is he,
If he isn't ready to kill?
